Bloom’s Taxonomy

A model that structures learning in a hierarchal structure of development based on complexity. In this model, increased complexity indicates higher degree of learning a concept. Thus, students start with knowledge (ability to repeat and state a concept) and work through comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, to evaluation (judgement of accuracy regarding statements or ideas that involve a given concept). This model has since been revised and adapted to different disciplines. The most commonly used revised model is Remember, Understand, Appy, Analyze, Evaluate, Create.
Bloom’s taxonomy is often used to define the level of learning intended or desired in lesson each outcome.
